Who can nominate the ASPIRE Outstanding Woman of
the Year?
We welcome any person, regardless of age or gender, to submit
nominations for any Asian American girl or woman he or she
thinks should be a candidate for this award.
How will the Outstanding Woman of the Year be decided?
After all the nominations have been received, the ASPIRE
Award committee will narrow the nominees to 10 semi-finalists.
Phone interviews will be conducted with the 10 semi-finalists
to narrow the nominees to 5 finalists, which will be forwarded
to a panel of final judges.
The final judges will then assign the Grand Prize Winner,
1st runner up, 2nd runner up, and 2 honorable mentions.
Final judging process:
- Each judge will rank his/her choices from 1 (low) to 5
(high)
- The winner will be decided by the nominee with the most
points, 1st runner up by the next number of points, etc
- In the case of a tie, the winner will be decided by a
vote among the judges
Who will be included on the final judging panel?
- A representative from ASPIRE’s Board of Directors
- A representative from Audrey magazine
- An ASPIRE Youth Leadership Program (YLP) Scholar
- An AAWIL conference speaker
- A representative from the Grand Prize sponsor
Prizes (subject to change)
Grand Prize - ASPIRE Outstanding Woman of the Year
- All costs associated with attending the 2008 ASPIRE Asian
American Women In Leadership (AAWIL) Conference in Boston,
MA for (including complimentary conference registration,
round-trip airfare and one-night hotel stay in Boston, MA)
- A day with a mentor of the winner’s choice from
ASPIRE’s network (relevant transportation and accommodation
will be provided should traveling be required)
- A profile spread in a 2008 issue of Audrey Magazine (including
a professional photography session)
- A feature on ASPIRE’s website (www.girlsaspire.org)
- A 2008 ASPIRE Outstanding Woman of the Year Award memorabilia
